Before she could even speak Kaz flagged down the nearest waitress, visibly flirting with her to get to his table faster. Keira sighed, lying her head on the table. Why did she have to go outside this morning? Wasn't it enough this idiot had embarrassed her in front of the gym but now in the public?

Keira was just about to absorb more of her surroundings, perhaps make a getaway, before Kaz tapped a finger in front of her. "You never told me your name." He said slowly, looking over her pulled up eyebrows, leaning back in his chair. "Are you feeling alright? I am sorry…just thought being a little playful would help you not be so tense. If you're feeling bad I'll take you back to the gym, or at least take you home. I'm known to take things a little too far…team mates tell me that I make humans too nervous." He said with a shrug.

Keira instantly perked, the last she needed was him walking her home. If she could somehow get out of this without a giant making a second visit to the gym that'd be a good idea. Most of the people at that gym had a thing against giants, that's why they chose something so far into the human part of town. "Kei…my name's Kei." She said quickly, trying to force a smile but by Kaz's look it didn't seem much better then a scowl.

"Kei…not only in appearance but also in name." He murmured, reaching forward to push some hair out of her eyes. She froze, her eyes widening as he stared into her eyes for a moment, his face passive. She almost wanted to pull back or push his hands away, but for a moment she was hypnotized. She found out that she couldn't move as she looked into those sudden deep brown eyes. As soon as that blank look came onto his face he pulled away and that smile came back. "It's odd, sorry kid, you remind me a lot of my friend's younger sister. Usually I'm not this touchy, my interest is in women, not men."

The words hit her heart like lightning and suddenly it was hard to breath. The giants around her didn't mean a thing all at once and she could only see Kaz. The worry that one of them would recognize her didn't matter and all she could focus on was Kaz. "Younger…sister?" She croaked, swallowing hard and abruptly taking a sip of water from her oversized glass the waitress brought to drown the feeling.

"A sweet girl, I've heard." He mused, lying his arms on the table and lazily sipping his drink through a straw. "She's never wanted to come to our school so I've only seen a picture or two of her, but she's been missing for a long time. 'Course as stubborn as my friend is, he still hasn't given up. I'm a little doubtful because it's been a few years and she still hasn't been found. The family won't give up, Silas—my friend—even had to stay back a year in college because he got too distracted when she went busy." He paused, noticing the paling face of his guest and frowned. "Sad right? I wanted to help out today, just for kicks. It's just hard to find a girl that doesn't want to be found. Sorry kid, you just remind me a lot of her. She has blue eyes and blonde hair though. Ya gotta tell me if you see any girl like that, kay? I'm sure you've gotten plenty of ladies. With that cute face of yours it's kinda hard to keep them off you right?" He joked, tilting his head. "Besides, with one more pair of eyes in the human world it'd be good to have."

Keira couldn't stand it. She stared at her naturally blue eyes in the mirror after getting back from her 'date' as Mari put it. Kaz had been rambling for hours and finally he brought her home to an empty gym and the dark bedroom room upstairs. Her family was still looking for her? Why didn't they get the point?! Why didn't they understand she ran away because of their clinginess?!

And her brother…he was held back a year? She bit her lip, her eyes falling to the stained sink from her fresh color of brown hair. Perhaps she should send them a letter? At least know that she is alright and still…well alive? She cleared her throat that closed up with incoming tears. It had been so long since she thought of how her family might be taking her departure that it almost felt like she was reopening a wound in her heart.

It hurt, the burn in her chest was so painful she could feel her body growing weak. Slowly she pushed herself to wash out her sink and go into the bedroom, rubbing her now dry hair with a few fresh tears running down her face. In all honesty she missed the little things. She wanted to try and imagine all the terrible things her family did to make the pain easier, but now that she started thinking about them the old memories came up to the surface.

Her 8th birthday, where her father tried to rent her a pony but it ended up being canceled…he played the pony instead.

Her brother's first game of football in the backyard where he let her beat him for the sake of their sibling relationship…she was competitive when she was little.

Her mother's delicate hands teaching her how to cook on an oversized stove, one recipe she never forgot…her favorite cookies.

The family visits to the park where her mother and her would try to sit on the swings while the boys threw some sort of ball.

Suddenly the tiny room felt lonely, sad, even darker. She shut her eyes, curling up on top of her covers without even bothering to turn out the light. The hole in her heart made her chest heavy and all she could think about was sleep…sleep to get away from the tears.

Keira woke to a heavy bang, jolting up. She was standing with her hand on the knob in a second, but before she yanked it open she remembered her current attire. She heard the bang go off again, looking down at her pajamas and frowning. She growled at herself, for once putting on these types of clothes for sleeping and quickly threw off her top and pants. She tugged on the vest, barely preparing herself before zipping it up and covering the zipper over with a small thin flap. She pulled on a t-shirt and jeans as she ran down the stairs, trying to pull them on. All she could think about was getting downstairs in time to see what was happening.

Was there a fight?

Did someone break into the gym?

Worse yet, did someone take on Mari?

Just the thought of the last guy that refused to follow the training Mari set out for him, it  made Keira wince. She had to help bandage that guy up after he got a punch right in the cheek…he lost quite a bit of teeth from that. She burst open the door to the gym, panting as she looked around. Where was everyone? What time was it? She caught a change in shadows outside, squinting her eyes as she slowly approached the front doors.

Keira bit her lip, testing the handle to realize it was unlocked. Her eyebrows rose in surprise and she carefully pushed the door open only for her arm to turn to a noodle. The man she stared at was her current nightmare in the daytime. He sat in the front yard like he belonged there, clutching something squirming in his arms. It wasn't until she noticed Mari's extreme blonde hair on the figure struggling under the snuggling giant that she knew who he had claimed as his next victim.

As soon as the giant was aware of a pair of watching eyes, he perked, blinking at the gapping girl until that huge smile swept over his face. "Morning Kei!" He said happily, dipping his head down to rub his cheek against Mari's long wavy hair, leaving Keira standing there in shock. Mari was a pretty strong woman, after years of training she had some muscle on her thin arms, but it didn't seem unnatural. She was born with such bright blonde hair she said many thought she was an albino, but her green eyes proved otherwise. Her hair stopped around mid back, so wavy it was almost curling at the ends.

Keira always saw this woman as one to never lose, she was a role model, but seeing her practically having no chance almost made her look like a child. She groaned and against her better judgment she was running over to the group. "K-Kaz!" It burned to say his name, but it didn't seem like he would be paying attention to her while he had a wild woman wrapped up in a death hug.

He perked, looking suddenly happy to hear his name and glanced down to Keira with a tilt of his head. "Yeah? What's up? Sorry…were we too loud? I told her not to throw weights, but she doesn't learn." He scoffed, flinching when a hand grabbed his cheek and started pulling. "OW OW OW! MARI! You're so mean! I only wanted to say hello to Kei, but when I realized this is your gym and came back, you go crazy!"

"Let go, now!" Mari's strong tone growled. The giant complied, rubbing his cheek with a frown as the woman stumbled out of reach, rubbing her bed-head in return and fixing her tank-top. "Damn kid, I never let you do it before, why now?" It took her a moment before her eyes fell on Keira and they seemed to soften the anger a bit. "I failed in getting rid of the fool." She mumbled as if the older boy wasn't sitting next to her.

"W-What's going on here?" She said slowly, taking a cautious step away from the giant. How do you two know each other?" She demanded, barely avoiding a pouting expression look for pity from Kaz. She frowned and pointed at him, her eyes narrowing. "And if you really know this gym you should know never to come around here, oaf!"

Kaz's eyes seemed to put on the front of the 'innocent-puppy-that-tore-up-the-couch' as he glanced between Mari and Keira, as if he'd get any pity from those two. He sighed, dropping the cute blinking eyes to hiss at his red cheek. "Geez…you had to pull so hard? That really hurt you know!"

"Ah…that damned boy asked me to train him, he was just a kid back then, when I was part of the celebrity world." She crossed her arms, sitting on the grass now that she was sure the boy wouldn't come after her. "He was a kid, training like I do would destroy his growth…not to mention he wouldn't leave me alone if I had agreed. That boy is so stubborn and he doesn't seem to remember the lessons from when he was smaller that I taught him to keep away from me."

"H-Hey! That's awful, Mari, telling someone else like that! I wasn't that bad! You didn't even let me down gently when you denied training me!"

"Exactly, if I let you down lightly that wouldn't be like me, I also thought that would make you stop following me home!" She stood up and gestured to the gym. "Why in the hells do you think I stay here? Now that you're bigger you should understand exactly why I moved so far away. However, it seems you haven't matured any, you're still that foolish boy."

"Aw…Mari your insults are harsh. Maybe that's why I'm concerned with this boy!" Before Keira could catch onto the conversation fully and where it was going she was snatched up. She yelped, squeezed into a firm chest. "He's so cute, like a girl, right? I was worried that he'd be too short to talk you into training him so I was just bringing him a present!"

Keira almost felt like she was on some carnival ride as she was let go on the grass, her head spinning with dizziness as she watched a double of Kaz walk toward the street. Why did he have to hug so hard? She was sure he was more gentle than that, she felt it yesterday, so why was he so clingy now? She groaned, rubbing her eyes, clearing her head before she looked back, finally realizing the huge motorcycle taking up most of the road. She moaned in the early light, glancing back to Mari who only seemed to sigh and massage her forehead.

Kaz pulled a backpack off the bike and walked back over, settling down in front of Keira and pulling out a large carton of…milk. It was shoved quickly into her hands with two more, looking like a blown up size of the ones she used to get in school at lunch. "Milk is good for you, helps you get taller and I'm sure you could use--!"

"I am NOT 5!" Keira yelped, dropping the milk and standing as the giant held another carton with a few blinks of his light brown eyes. He looked over her angry expression with a small smile inching across his lips. He set his backpack aside, ignoring the long raven hair falling over his shoulder as he leaned down, almost as if sitting wasn't low enough for him. All that bravado suddenly left her like a breath of cold air and as his large face approached she wondered if he would notice the beads of sweat starting up on her forehead.

"Yes, you're not 5…I see that, but you can't deny you're short, Shorty." He grinned, knowing full well the sudden red in her face was not from embarrassment. She was surprised how fast he was when she tried to take a shot in his face, but he was already standing, zipping up his backpack as if it was natural. "Well! I must get going to practice--!" He stopped, one strap over his shoulder before he knelt down quickly in front of Keira.

She tried to back up but a strong hand fell on her back. The light brown eyes reflected confusion as he leaned in close, releasing her with a frown. She swallowed and forced a glare over her expression, only causing a smirk out of the giant. "Alright, alright, no need to look so mean. But that's weird, I swore you had green eyes yesterday." He shook his head and rubbed his head as he slipped his other arm through the backpack strap. "Ah well, small details, small details." He happily waved to a grumpy Mari, gesturing to the milk cartons as he stood. "Maybe you should have some too, sourpuss!" He was about to turn until he looked back down to Keira, waving to her too. "Bye, Shorty! The next time we have football practice, I'll come pick you up okay? It'll be fun, promise, besides you gotta get out of here before you turn into a grumpy old man. Be sure to drink your milk before then, 'kay?" With that he was on his bike and roaring down the road before Keira could get a kick at his shins.

Keira stood there, frozen with shock, the milk cartons at her feet until she collapsed to her knees. "I thought I was going to die. Idiot…I hate giants…I'll never go there." She snorted, groaning to feel Mari pat her on the back. She jumped a bit, quickly looking up to the older woman. She had a soft smile on her lips, Keira found that she didn't often do, and she lowered herself down into a crouch.

"That kid hasn't changed at all. The only way to win is to go with him without making a little tantrum out of it. If anyone asks me, you act older than him." She said as she turned, heading back toward the gym after squeezing her shoulder.

"M-Mari!" She called before her teacher was back inside. Once the woman turned to face her, Keira's shoulders dropped a bit once their eyes met. The incoming question hurt her and lodged itself in her throat, but she knew she needed to ask despite the tears forming in her eyes. "Is he…do you know a boy named Silas?" She asked slowly. After a moment the woman shook her head and gestured down the street with her thumb.

"He's the only giant I've really ever spent time around…probably because he'd never get over his clinginess." She crossed her arms, leaning against the closed doors with a smirk. "But if you're curious about him, don't let him find out you're following him. He may look stupid, but he's actually got a brain under all that hair." She waited a moment, looking at the tearing child in her front lawn before she smiled weakly. Slowly she made her way back over to the young girl, lowering herself onto her knees and wrapping her arms around her. This girl was the only one to get this close to her, perhaps because she had gone through such hardships but kept herself together. So without a second thought, Mari held the shaking girl until her sweatpants and Keira's jeans were soaked with the morning's dew.

Keira sat on the edge of the sidewalk, watching the current fight with bored written over her face. All day her mind had been on that damn giant and how he knew her brother. Her brother loved her dearly, and she loved him too, but the difference in age and size had always been a problem between them. At times he tried to let her grow up, other times he would resemble their father with how protective he was so the two didn't spend much time with each other in the years before she left. She remembered the one time she tried to meet a boy she liked in the park secretly. Let's just say when her older brother showed up and stood over her shoulder, that one boy never talked to her again.

She sighed, glancing back at the fight with her bright blue eyes. This was the only place she could forget. Fighting always required the mind to be focused, and if not there would be some missing teeth. So far she had kept all of them, and she didn't plan to lose any of them soon. She stood up, checking her silver short haired wig atop her head. It was to hide her appearance even more in these fights. She was sure if she fought face to face with these people that no doubt the ones that wished to get a jump on her would find where exactly she lived, and worse the people that cared for her at the gym.

They were all good fighters at the gym, no doubt, but when those that wished to win brought weapons there was no way to win without some scratches. And as paranoid as she was after earning such a title, she made sure to change her appearance enough to make an image for herself in the fighting world, and the fighting world only. This was the only time she could have the vest off…and she would enjoy the flexibility she had now without the thick cloth.

Wearing her 'signature' t-shirt with white angel wings printed on the back was really the only thing she got humor out of. It seemed most people knew without asking who she was, it was just a little entertaining like that. She stepped up to the crowd around the two men fighting without much of a care. She knew the one man, he was known to cheat and have hidden blades when most of these fights were strictly no weapons. The other man seemed new, but he was doing good for himself. He definitely had the size advantage, but somehow he looked off.

Keira took a look around, she had been challenged tonight, but she honestly wasn't sure who it was. Some new-name probably wishing to take her title. And unfortunately, with the amount of people, it seemed her opponent wasn't female either. The crowd was entirely male, minus the two street-walk-looking women by a betting man off to the side. She shook her head at them, crossing her arms.

She wore her black t-shirt with the white wings printed over her shoulder blades on her back with jean shorts and black boots that reached around mid-calf. With the crowd being, well men, she didn't much trust them without targeting her for being female. She pulled her fingerless gloves out of her pockets, tugging them on as she turned back to the fight. The newbie took a shot to the nose, sending him to the ground with a yell of pain.

Keira took a glare toward the other man, who was being congratulated by his back-up-pals that Keira was sure had been paid to be near such a jerk. Her eyes widened, noticing a flash on his knuckles before he pulled his arm behind his back, no doubt to take off his brass knuckles he snuck in. Before he could get an overkill kick into the fallen men she stepped in the circle of men, between the two fighters and giving the cheater a good glare. "Enough." She spat, stepping over to the newbie, dropping her duffel bag near him and pulling out a towel.

His face looked familiar, but with his hands clutched to his nose she couldn't be sure. She only forced his hands away to see the damage. She felt her stomach clench when all she could see was blood. She helped him sit up, pressing the towel to his face gently. "You need to get to a hospital." She told him quickly. When he opened his eyes, she couldn't stop herself from gasping to see shining light brown eyes. A quick flash of Kaz went through her head but she shook it out, brown eyes were common, she needed to get that damned giant out of her head.

She looked over his body, besides his nose he didn't seem to be bleeding anywhere. She blushed lightly when she felt a large hand lie over top of hers. Keira looked back at the man to see he was looking down, his less bloodied hand carefully removing her hands even though she could see streams of tears coming down his face, he wanted to keep his pride.

Keira couldn't believe it, most men would be running out of here as soon as they started get teary eyed, he was full out crying in front of her…it had to hurt more then she thought. She quickly stood up, pulling her duffel bag's strap over her shoulder and pulling her gloves off. She'd ditch her fight, not like they wouldn't schedule another one for tomorrow night. "We need to get you to a hospital, come on, I can't lift you myself." The man looked at her and she suddenly spotted why he looked so off. Even with his lower face covered, he had childish features. She shook her head free of the distracting thoughts and firmly took one of his wrists. "K-Keep the pressure." She bit her lip and quickly helped him stand, freezing when she realized how quiet it had gotten in the alley way.

She froze, the man's arm around her shoulders as she tried to hold him up, he had to be close to 7 feet! She groaned under his weight but didn't let her legs buckle. Keira glanced up from the alley to see a giant filling up the exit, panting with his eyes wide. She slowly straightened when she realized the living nightmare coming closer. She almost lost her hold on the injured man as the giant was suddenly in the light, his face was pale and…looking right at the man she was holding.

Keira felt the man struggle slightly, as if he had the strength to stand on his own, but the giant had already spotted him and she realized with dismay she KNEW the damned man standing there…Kaz. She couldn't believe it, and at the same time this was her luck when she made the mistake of letting the giant see her the first time. In ALL of the giants in town, it had to be this one?!

She heard some men already running, most likely too cowardly to take the giant. Kaz quickly knelt down in front of them, although she was sure he didn't quite see her yet…his eyes were focused on the man beside her. She slowly raised her head, looking between the two men staring at each other. The injured man was trying to support himself, but she was sure that he still needed her body to even stay standing after a hit like that. Kaz was frozen, his face so pale it looked white, which made her wonder what the relation between these two were. By the look of terror on Kaz's face, they had to be close. She yelped to have Kaz quickly separate the two with a hand and scoop up the man into his lap.

His pale face grew hot and he looked over the man's body before setting him carefully down in front of him inside, no doubt more for the ego of the man. "You decide to run out here on your own…you're lucky I know these places you go to." He paused and he seemed to be trying to keep hold of his anger as he quickly scanned the remaining men in the alleyway. "Who hit him?" He growled, slowly rising from his kneeling position.

Keira didn't have to turn around to hear the scampering scaredy-cats as soon as Kaz addressed them. She didn't blame him, he looked pretty intimidating. She flinched though when those angry eyes found her and suddenly the silly fear she had this morning from the happy giant seemed like nothing. She took a breath and took a step back with a weak grin. "H-Hope you feel better…" She whispered, gingerly patted the man's arm as she passed by. She slowly backed up until Kaz's head lowered, glaring down at her…no doubt for authority.

"You're coming with me." She sucked in a breath and before she could gasp she was grabbed, it almost felt like she was being thrown. Trying to get a hold of herself as she was rather swiftly laid over a broad shoulder, only a large hand on her back keeping her from sliding right off. She screamed, swinging her legs when she felt the giant start to move.

"WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?! LET GO!"
:noes: Near the end of this is probably where I started to lose my touch of this story. Quite honestly when I started writing it I only had a vague idea who and what the story was about. I let it grow and change as I wrote it, but after a while it simply wouldn't work out. I can't tell you guys how many times I started changing that end part and asking myself if that's what I wanted. Bleh, anyway, there's part two.

Being smothered by anyone will drive people to run away because they feel like they have no freedom or personal life, especially in her case when she mentioned her family being too clingy. why can't her family see she can't take it anymore, and not mention she was born into giant family, that only makes her even more angry because she just  cantbe by herself very long without someone shadowing over her life.
