Wolf Pack- Chapter 52 [Final] - Love for Life

Kale smiled lightly as he watched from the sidelines. Jaclyn's father…she finally met the man that was her own blood. He glanced sideways at his father and he was sure he caught a tear before the man turned away to rub his eye. His dad always was a softy at times like these…and he had to admit that he felt for Jaclyn. He felt his heart beating fast as if he was in the position of the young girl. It felt good, after all she had gone through she at least was able to meet this man.

He glanced over to the Hunters and gestured to them for his father. Logan was the one to take care of them now that he was here. He glanced over to Shin and Jaclyn, feeling his ears lower at the sight. Out of all the times that Shin could have come, he guessed now ended up the best. He didn't invade Shin's space as he went to stand with his father, picking up the Hunters and opening his jacket to give each man his own pocket. Kale had seen that jacket many times, it was made specially to carry Pegatans for a long trip. Since it wasn't normal for clothes to have pockets for wolves, he used to find it fascinating that there was more his father could keep under his jacket.

He bit back a growl when he noticed the Hunter's looks toward his father, turning his attention away from them altogether. He walked over to his bloodied jacket, having grown numb to the cold over the years and wondering if he should just leave it here. Cleaning that much blood off clothes would be a bother. He looked over the extra meat, wondering if it was worth taking either. He knelt down and reached under his shirt to pull out the small pouch he used for his travels. He stuffed as much cooked meat into it for the travel back and stood back up. He'd leave the rest for the scavengers, they'd get a good meal tonight.

His ears flicked as he heard his father start off and Shin begin to follow him, carrying Jaclyn against him. And now that Kale saw him from the back he saw his quick wagging tail, careful to be hidden behind his legs. He smirked and followed after the group, fainting hearing Shin mumbling about how skinny his daughter was and he reminded her of her mother. He caught up, catching the biggest smile he had seen on Jaclyn's face in a long time…that one smile warmed his heart enough that he could practically feel the heat increase inside him, his heart beating faster. After all that happened she still had the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.



Kale sat with the rest of his pack on top of the hill by the forest, watching over the town where his father sat by a large building they had labeled as the Town Hall on the other side of the meadow. It was where those damn Hunters were being trailed. They had made record time back to the cave all to get those men their 'fair' trial. Problems on the wolf side was unavoidable, with Shin finding out just out hurt his daughter was it'd be a problem if he was left alone with the Hunters. Another thing was Jaclyn's injuries, although most of them weren't serious Logan still felt that she should be checked out by a doctor of her own size. Sleep and stopping wasn't an option and so the group found their journey only a day long.

Kale glanced back at the pack behind him, most of them had hateful eyes that bore down on the Town Hall. He knew how they felt and the pack had only known Jaclyn for the short time she had spent as her punishment. Kale glanced back at the trial and noticed his father pulling out something from his jacket he had thought they left behind, all the weapons every one of the Hunter's owned. He even noticed when Jaclyn came up to give her statement. It all seemed a blur as all the facts were against these killers. Unfortunately, her father had to leave the grounds because of Council rules, but he'd be proud of his daughter standing in front of all these people.  He guessed the only reason that his father didn't throw a fit at Shin on his territory was because of the fact an alpha was allowed to visit anyone's land for about 3 days before he had to return home, that was the Council's law and Shin had to follow it.

The pack's bird had set off for the Council the day before the trial, telling them the extent of what had happened and the result. As soon as it returned, the bird was then sent off to Shin's pack and told him of Jaclyn's acceptance in the pack and Shin didn't need to worry about such things when he did return to his pack.

Kale sighed, his breath curling and disappearing in the early morning air. He felt relief for once in a long time. Surprisingly when the group returned the entire pack was worried for the young girl and though a few didn't agree, most welcomed her in without a problem. It'd take a little while, but he was sure that the pack would come around to like Jaclyn as a pack member.

But the trial seemed to be a big one, a lot of citizens gathered to listen to it and though Kale had to strain his ears he heard the sentence for these men near the ending, imprisonment for life. He was a little surprised at the punishment, imagining something more…deadly but that's why the Pegatan law system had their own rules. If the wolves were to rule the trial it wouldn't turn out well or fair. Wolves were known to be more violent in their ways of dealing with problems, there was no room for mistake in this world and that was why the wolves held such a heavy responsibility.

And as the sun peeked over the trees he saw the most heart-lifting sight he had ever seen. His father returning with Jaclyn, smiling as if this had been her months before, happy and safe. His throat closed up to feel the happy tears start behind his eyes, quickly biting on the inside of his cheek to keep them as bay as Jaclyn was passed over to him. He cupped his hands under her, smiling down to her and watching her hair shine as the light caught it. Kale could feel it…the warm fire start in his chest every time he saw her. He closed his eyes as he kissed the top of her head, his ears folding back in care. He loved her, he knew this for sure now and he wouldn't let her out of his sight anymore. He'd protect her until the end of his days, this beautiful girl that sat in his hands with the most striking smile he had ever seen.
